Areuana/Ariwana/Arowana (Philippine Folk Dance) MP3 Audio Free Download
Areuana is Filipino folk dance originated in the Visayas. Different versions of the dance exist such as the one from Ilo-ilo and the other from Negros Occidental.
COSTUME: Any Visayan costume.
MUSIC is divided into two parts: A and B.
COUNT: One, two or one, and, two, and to measure.
FORMATION: Any number of couples in lines about four feet apart, with the Girl on the right side of Boy when facing the audience.
INTRODUCTION
Music Introduction.
Partners face each other.
(a) Patterns take two steps forward to meet at center (R, L),
(cts. 1, 2) and move two steps (R, L) backward, away from
each other (cts. 1, 2). Arms at the sides swinging
naturally in time with the music..................2 M
(b) Stamp R foot sideward putting weight on it (cts. 1, 2),
cross L foot in front of R and turn to right at the time
salok the L hand across the body, R arm in fifth position
(cts. 1, 2). Finish facing each other.............2 M
(c) Partners bow to each other, arms n second position (ct. 1)
trunk up arms down at sides (ct. 2)...............1 M

Partners face left. Boy faces the audience, Girl away from the audience.
(a) With the inside foot leading, take two chasing steps
sideward to exchange places passing front to front (cts.
1, and, 2, and), step R sideward (ct. 1), stamp L close
to R (no weight) (ct. 2), Girl holds skirt, Boy places
hands on waist. Finish in partner's place.........2 M
(b) Repeat (a) finishing in proper places.............2 M
(c) Repeat (a) putting weight on the last stamp.......2 M
(d) Cross-step turn right (1 M) finish facing partner and
bow to each other (1 M). Arms as in the introduction.
Partners face left, Girl facing the audience, Boy away

(e) Repeat all (a-d), passing back to back finishing in

R making a right about turn, swinging L foot in rear of
R ankle (ct. 2), step backward to face partner (cts. 1, 2 ),
in partner's place................................2 M
(d) Starting with the R foot take three chasing steps moving
backward away from each other and stamp R foot backward
taking weight on it (cts. 1, and, 2, and, 1, and, 2).2 M
(e) With the L foot leading, take three chasing steps moving
forward to proper places and stamp L foot forward taking
weight on it (cts. 1, and, 2, and, 1, and, 2) passing by
R shoulder finish facing away from each other......2 M
(f) Partners take three cross-step turns about (R, L, R) in
place, Girls holds skirt, Boy places hands on waist. Finish
the last turn facing each other (take 2 M for each turn).6 M
(g) Partners bow to each other, arms in second position (cts. 1,
